Why Fall in WNY is the Best

Welcome to fall! Here's a few things to take advantage of in WNY to make the most of this time of year!

1. Fall Foliage

WNY is an area that is renowned for its beautiful display of fall foliage. If you're from the area, you most likely take this for granted on your daily hike along the highway to work. Maybe this is the year to take in all of autumn beauty by taking a short drive to hike around either Letchworth or Allegheny State Park. Another option is to drive through the reds, oranges, and yellows-- mentioned in 6 Beautiful Fall Drives.

2.Pumpkin Patches

Picking your perfect pumpkin to carve is an essential part of the fall season. Even though it can be easy(and cheaper) to grab one at your nearby Tops or Wegmans, part of the whole fall experience is driving to a patch in search of one. Channel your inner kid-self and frolic in the corn maze, haunted hay-rides, petting zoos and playing just about every little game you can find.

3.Autumn Eats

Apple and pumpkin are the fall food icons. Fall marks the time of year when you can start buying pumpkin flavored everything at your local grocery stores. Stop by Mayer Bros. Cider Mill for fresh cider and warm baked goods. Finding the perfect cinnamon sugar donut, pumpkin muffin, and apple pie are staples of autumn.

4.The Weather

Say hello to comfortable weather! Throw on a flannel or light jacket-- rather than the intense boots and puffy coat of our harsh winter. A crisp cool breeze will blow the falling leaves while you live your life at a temperature that you can function at! Say goodbye to sticky muggy summer heat and enjoy (debatably) the best weather of the entire year.
